The careers of Finland’s famous international music stars – past, present and future – all begin at the Sibelius Academy, where great musicians are born.

FSA Mission

Friends of The Sibelius Academy is dedicated to enabling cultural exchange between the Sibelius Academy and related organizations within the United States. In doing so, the goal is to make available the Academy’s innovative initiatives in music education and professional development, world class artistic offerings and prestigious cultural programs of the highest
creative and pedagogic quality, for which the Finnish education system is so famous and highly respected the world over, easily accessible to music institutions in the U.S.A.

Examples of some of the programs to be supported now and in the future by the FSA are:

  • Performance tours by Sibelius Academy soloists and ensembles in the United States
  • Unique educational projects that assist the exchange of ideas and best practices between the Sibelius Academy and American music universities
  • Professor and student exchange between the two countries
  • Fellowship programs supporting the interchange of researchers between the Sibelius Academy and universities in the U.S.A.
